This is a concept for a portable NES that takes normal cartridges. Of course this is just a pipe dream considering that squeezing in both screen, battery pack and speakers into that tight space would be nigh impossible.

I have to admit that I prefer emulation these days, though (and it's getting harder to find working old genuine hardware). If you could build a mini PC into an NES controller that ran some minimal OS & various emulators & held all your ROMs and savestates, well...I can dream.
